Getting down to the wire

This week has been spent trying to finalize all the remaining items to be purchased and acquired.  I have ordered the door sign (Pull to Open) and the St. John's Ambulance sign.  I have purchased the anchor lamp and the lantern that I will be dissecting to create the top of the Tardis Lamp.

And there they are - from their order pages!

I have also purchased the clear plastic film that is used on bathroom windows for privacy to simulate the panes of glass that are not plain.

One of the largest difficulties has been deciding on a blue for the Tardis.  I'm leaning toward the Suddenly Sapphire from Loews.  But not sure yet.

But, at long last - here are some more construction pics!

Laying the wooden base on the concrete!

Signboxes on the cornerposts - fit PERFECTLY!!

Upper roof segment - in progress!

Door and Side Panels - COMPLETE!

ROOF COMPLETE!!

Now I just need to sand everything... *sigh*

Today was spent thinking. Ok. I have been drooling over the creations of Matt Smith's tardis and would LOVE to recreate it faithfully - BUT - reality must take over sometime. I can't spend thousands of dollars creating my tardis *cries* and I don't have a workshop where I can do all these fancy things.

So. I will not be painting my TARDIS with Subaru automotive paint. I am going to spend some time reviewing my options and trying out some combinations. I can try the Valspar Paint Crystals to give it a bit of shine. There will not be any gloss or semi gloss on my creation due to glare on photography. I would like to make it slightly metallic in sheen - and I will try to find the best option for making this happen.

Also, on the lookout for the lamp & anchor lantern for the creation. I found one of each - but the lamp base and top are a little more than I want to spend. I joined the tardisbuilders.com group and I hope to pick someone else's brain on the best option of what is currently available.

Too bad I didn't buy the lamp that they recommended two years ago. I didn't know I wanted to make one then! *laughs*

The Tardis project has been on a bit of a haitus due to the main designer working out at Yellowstone National Park for the summer. I have been trying to get the parts weatherized to prepare for his return - but have not been as productive as I would like. Will be updating with pictures that I have not posted yet - but the roof is in framework and one of the panel sides is complete! Pouring concrete for the base on Saturday and the four "Police Public Call Box" signs should be complete and picked up on Friday!! The completion date is set for October 27th. Youngest monster is having a Doctor Who themed b-day party and we want to have this done for her to show off!
